With the ongoing spread and fear of the global pandemic, coronavirus (COVID-19), I am sure there are many of you wondering what this means for your peace of mind, your mental health, and your ability to start or continue treatment.

Our office is fully aware of these troubling times and want to reassure you that Duluth TMS remains open for our current patients receiving treatments and for those of you that wish to start a series to put your depression into remission.

As many of you are aware MN and WI Governors have placed our states in a stay-in-place order.  One of these exceptions is necessary medical appointments and we feel strongly that TMS treatments, and other mental health services, is a necessary treatment given the debilitating nature of depression and anxiety orders.  You may have also heard that non-essential businesses are being told to close their doors.  I reassure you that treatment for depression is an essential service.  Mental health is essential!

To protect our patients and staff, Duluth TMS has amped up our cleaning procedures and disinfecting protocols.  Some of the changes do require that only patients and staff are allowed at the clinic during this time.  If you are driven to your appointment by a loved or staff member, we are asking that those people remain in their vehicles.  We wish to keep our lobby empty during this time.

Treatments rooms (including treatment machines and furniture) are all disinfected following every appointment.  The lobby area is also disinfected after everyone that comes in for a treatment, including but not limited to, chairs, table surfaces, pens, and clipboards.  We have also spaced appointments so that there are limited people in the waiting room.

Patients that are experiencing any “flu like” symptoms, including shortness of breath, fever, tightening in chest, vomiting, and any other symptoms, will need to pause their treatments until two weeks following the disappearance of any symptoms.  Depending on where you were at when you got sick, Duluth TMS can work with your insurance company to get a new authorization, so that you may start a new series.

TMS technicians will be wearing masks and gloves during treatments.  This is for their safety and yours.  Although I would love to list everything pre-caution we have implemented, I want to reassure you that we are taking every pre-caution for our patients and staff here at Duluth TMS.

Remember that “there is hope, even when your brain tells you theirs isn’t” and your mental health is important to us.  Intakes and psychological evaluations are all being done over the phone and over our webcam service.  This means your first two appointments can be done from the comfort of your home.  Did I mention that your intake/screening is free?  Yup, free.

Don’t allow your depression to be your norm.  We are here to help put your depression into remission.  Follow us on Facebook for updates and check out our website where we have videos and other information to help you understand what TMS can do for you.  Now is the time to take the leap and leave your depression behind.
